A Day At The Beach ...

Beach culture is a part of the Brazilian. Regardless the time of day, the day of week, there's always people there. So we only have one goal today, take a 4km walk down Copacabana Beach and enjoy its sights. But before that, need to fuel up with some breakkie! Found a local stand where people are busy queuing up to buy food on the go for work.

He ordered ham and cheese ... bread is very soft!

The coffee is out of this world, and this is coming from moi, someone with no habit of drinking coffee. Orange juice can't be any fresher.

When the pork pernil sandwich (with pineapple slices) come, we looked at each other, probably silently thinking the same thing, that we should have just ordered ONE sandwich ... like what the couple next to us did :P

We can't help noticing this elderly lady on the other side of us eating this delicious looking dark purple "thing" in a cup, somewhat like a frozen yogurt ... after some sign language, we were told that is ACAI. That rings a bell, whenever that label "ACAI Berry" is slapped on some product packaging in the States, that product price doubled ... I think ACAI is linked with terms like anti-oxidants, amino-acids, nature's best complete and healthy food ... Ok, though we just downed a pernil pork sandwich, how can we pass up on nature's most healthy food? One ACAI frozen yummy coming right up! Wow, it is good, who doesn't like sweet berry frozen yogurt? If all healthy food taset like that, the world would be a much easier place to live in and diet would be non-existant ...

Its been less than 24 hours in Rio, but definitely noticed one thing, the city is FULL of fruit juice stands. Like how you have a Starbucks in every corner of the street in NY, that is exactly the situation in Rio with the fresh fruit juice stands. Good to know ... you can't die of thirst here ... the selection of fruits is simply amazing. When ordering fruit juice, the locals also have the habit of adding some milk to their fresh juice, tried it and it wasn't bad though I prefer the pure version.

After a wholesome brunch, we spend the rest of the day walking along Copacabana beach. The locals say the beach is very much in the blood of Brazilians, any day of week, any time of day, you will find lots of people at the beach. As we walk along, there's as usual lots of fruit stands to prevent dehydration and lots of local snacks as well.

City and beach exist side by side ...

Local beer ...

The one and only ritziest hotel "Copacabana Palace".
